  • The new corporate identity describes the main activity of the company and its geographical distribution area: the Basque Country, Asturias and Cantabria.
  • The new logo, which is blue, symbolises the flame of gas hob burner with excellent combustion, which conveys safety, trust, reliability and respecting the environment.

Bilbao, 12 April 2018.- nortegas has today officially unveiled the new brand of the company previously known as Naturgas Energía Distribución. The company, which has the second largest gas distribution network nationwide, with nearly 8,200 kilometres and with over a million supply points, has started an information campaign aimed at customers, suppliers and different stakeholders to disseminate its new brand.

The consortium made up of institutional investors advised by JP Morgan Asset Management, Gulf Cooperation Council Sovereign Wealth fund, Swiss Life Asset Managers and Covalis Capital completed the 100% purchase of the company from the EDP last July. The company has since announced that it would create a new corporate identity to ensure that the company had its own and important personality on the gas distribution market.

The name of the new corporate identity, nortegas, clearly describes the company’s main activity and its current geographical distribution area: the Basque Country, Asturias and Cantabria.

Furthermore, the new logo, which is blue, symbolises the flame of gas hob burner with excellent combustion, which conveys safety, trust, reliability and respecting the environment.

The new corporate blue also features the colour of the sea of the Bay of Biscay along the coastline of the three autonomous regions where  nortegas has nearly 8,200 km of distribution network.

The new brand is a return to roots of the first gas distributors of each of the zones where the company is based, and which have slowly shaped what today is nortegas.

The campaign therefore recalls that nortegas encompasses the former companies of Gas de Euskadi, Bilbogas, Gasnalsa, Donostigas, Gas Pasaia, Gas Hernani and Gas de Asturias, along with the natural gas distribution network in Cantabria.

nortegas is currently the second gas distributor in Spain and has one of the best ratios in the sector. The company is embarking on this new stage with significant growth challenges both in its own distribution areas and possible opportunities outside those zones.

The nortegas Chairman, Alejandro Legarda, stressed that “the new brand   means we have our own and independent personality to embark on a stage to invest in and grow the supply points. And we therefore have the backing of a group of investors with a long-term vision and with the effort and hard-work of the 250 professionals making up the workforce”.
