What is Natural Gas for Vehicles (NGV)?
It is the name given to the natural gas used as an alternative fuel in the automotive industry. More cost-effective and cleaner than traditional fuels, NGV is used to fuel different means of transport, such as cars, buses, lorries, etc, is a mature technology, guarantees supply and is con endorsed by increasingly more brands (catalogue of natural gas vehicles).
NGV comes in two types depending on its thermal phase, but it is essentially the same natural gas that you enjoy in your home or business. It is a methane gas, that is lighter than air and it dissolves quickly in the atmosphere in the event of any eventuality.
Types of NGV
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG):
Natural gas is compressed at high pressure – around 250 bar –, which makes it easier to store and quicker to supply. CNG is therefore the perfect fuel for cars, vans, lorries, buses and coaches.Liquefied natural gas (LNG):
Natural gas is stored at minus 161 ºC, which means it can be kept in a liquefied state and occupy less volume. This type of natural gas for vehicles is ideal for heavy long-haulage transport such as lorries, special vehicles, trains and boats.

Cost effective
The cost per kilometre is 30% less than when using diesel and 50% less with petrol. NGV vehicles are also exempt from registration tax and there are government subsidies to help purchase them.
Air quality
NGV reduces nearly to ZERO the benchmark emissions of air quality pollutants affecting health: -85% nitrogen oxides (NOx) and -96% particulate matter (PM).

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) supply/refuelling
Refuelling is very easy, in a similar way as when filling up with diesel or petrol. Natural gas is supplied by the Nortegas distribution network, its pressure is adjusted for refuelling vehicles and it is sent to the pumps to be used.
