Conrado Navarro, new CEO of Nortegas

  • Conrado Navarro replaces Alejandro Legarda, who several months ago asked to leave the company to focus on other professional activities.
  • The new CEO, currently a member of the Nature Investments board, a lead company of the Nortegas Group, has spent a large part of its professional career at Iberdrola.

Conrado Navarro has today taken over as the new Nortegas CEO to replace Alejandro Legarda, who at the end of last year told the company’s partners that he wished to step down from his post to focus on its other professional activities.

The new Nortegas CEO graduated as a Mining Engineering, specialising in fuel and energy, and has an MBA-PDD from the IESE.

Conrado Navarro has mainly worked in Iberdrola and has extensive experience in the energy sector and, particularly, in the gas sector.

During his professional career, he has held different posts in the electricity company and was appointed as the Gas Director and member of the Iberdrola Management Committee in 2001. At that stage, as the head of the company’s gas business, he was a member of the board and CEO of the Regasification Plan in Bilbao (Bahía de Bizkaia Gas) and was on the boards of the Sagunto Regasification Plant and the Medgaz underwater gas pipeline. He was appointed Director of Institutional Relations in August 2017.

In relation to other sectoral activities, Navarro has been a member of the Hydrocarbons Advistory Council of the Spanish National Energy Commission (CNE), Deputy Chair of the Spanish Committee of the World Energy Board and a member of Management Board of the Spanish Confederation of Employers’ Organisation (CEOE). He has also been a speaker at numerous international and national energy forums.

He is currently a board member of Nature Investments, a lead company of the Nortegas Group.

In turn, Alejandro Legarda steps down as the Nortegas CEO after having taking it from being a company belonging to a multinational group to an independent company, where he also took on the post of managing director in the last year. During that period, the company increased its level of investment, sales and results.

Several months ago, Legarda told the partners of the company he wished to step down as CEO in order to focus his attention on his owner professional activities.
