NORTEGAS RELAXES THE PAYMENT OF LPG BILLS FOR THE MOST VULNERABLE ENTITIES

  • This initiative aims to protect and guarantee LPG supply to the most exposed groups in the current COVID-19 crisis.
  • This project is part of the action plan deployed by Nortegas to help to minimise the social and economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis in the areas where it operates.

Nortegas, the second gas distributor in Spain, will relax the payment of LPG bills to help the most vulnerable entities. This will allow them to use their resources more efficiently and allocate them to more pressing needs.

This initiative aims to protect and guarantee the LPG supply, on the one hand, to the most exposed groups in the current COVID-19 crisis and, on the other hand, to those entities providing an essential service, such as care homes, OAP homes, parishes and other social action entities, foundations and healthcare organisations. Nortegas is therefore contacting all of them to offer to relax their bills’ payment terms.

Furthermore, Nortegas has set up different communication channels for its self-employed and SME customers so that they can also ask to defer their LPG bills.

Nortegas Covid-19 action plan

Nortegas triggered its action plan in response to the health emergency during the first week of March, a week earlier than the declaration of the state of alarm.

This plan was implemented to help to minimise the social and economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis in the areas where it operates. The plan has two pillars. On the one hand, it is providing help in response to the health emergency, by prioritising the supply connect to field hospitals and hotels, such as the Langreo Field Hospital (Asturias) and the hotel in Los Corrales de Buelna (Cantabria). On the other hand, it has adopted measures to reduce the economic impact on its suppliers and customers.

Since then, the company, which continues to strive to guarantee the supply of such an essential service as gas, has deployed different measures to support the areas where it is present, such as advancing payments to its suppliers, along with different initiatives aimed at keeping its contractors and associates operational.

Nortegas has also donated over 52 tons of staple products to the food banks of the Basque Country, Cantabria and Asturias for families in vulnerable situations aggravated by the Covid-19 crisis.

This action plan likewise envisages future initiatives to minimise the negative consequences of COVID-19 in the areas where Nortegas is present.
