Environmental development

The commitment to the environment is formalized in the Environmental Policy, which focuses on conservation and improvement of the environment, as well as progress toward sustainability and climate neutrality as essential components of its strategy. Nortegas carries out all its business activities in an environmentally friendly manner, also committing to energy efficiency and resource conservation. This commitment is reflected in its ISO 14001:2015 certification.

In 2018, Nortegas embarked on the path to calculating its carbon footprint, by beginning to collect data on the different sources of CO2 emissions, segregating them into scopes 1, 2, and 3. Since then, work has been done to complete and improve the footprint information.

Furthermore, since 2021, Nortegas has successfully passed carbon footprint verification audits, thereby complying with the ISO 14064:2019 standard – Greenhouse gases. Part 1: Specification with guidance, at the organizational level, for the quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals.

This certification also allows Nortegas to to register its carbon footprint with the Spanish Office for Climate Change since then.

By registering its footprint, Nortegas commits to reducing its CO2 emissions and therefore its footprint, and subsequently offsetting it. This is also an exercise in transparency on the part of the company in its commitment to combating climate change and achieving net zero.
